Pedro Wins Blue

Alpaca Info

Pedro Armendariz won First Place in his class at the AWE Spin Off. As a Blue-Ribbon Winner, his fleece will be on display next weekend at this competitive alpaca show. Show officials notified the winners today, indicating that there were 116 entries from 14 states in the spin off. Five judges evaluated the fleeces entered. The three other top winners in Pedro's class (second, third and fourth places) may also be on display at the Portland, Oregon show.

The Alpaca Western Extravaganza (AWE) is one of the nation's most highly competitive alpaca shows and is being held in Hall E at the Portland Metropolitan Exposition Center, 2060 N. Marine Drive, Portland, Oregon April 15 and 16. For more information, see their website at http://www.awe-alpacas.org.

Earlier this month, Pedro took third place in his class at the Alpacapalooza event. Judge's comments on his fleece for that spin off event are described on this blog earlier in the week.

Pedro is available for herdsire services at his home in North Idaho.

Some natural-colored yarn and some hand-dyed yarn spun from Pedro's wonderful fleece is for sale along with other Alpaca Proudcts at Pedro's Pride Fashions-- http://www.pedrospride.com. Pedro's Pride Fashions will have a vendor booth at the Portland show, selling Alpaca Products, fashions and accessories. Come by and say hello to Lisa at the booth.

Kathy, thanks for the remarks. So far, Pedro's babies (crias) have been extremely densely fleeced. He is passing on his strong traits of dense, lustrous, pure white fleece. So far, he has two female yearling offspring and one male offspring who is now one-month old. All three of them have excellent conformation, dense fleece and they are a joy to have around.

Thanks, again.

Lisa said she had Pedro's fleece and Blue Ribbon at her vendor booth next to his yarn for sale. She said that the photo and ribbon helped sell his yearn. And, she gave a photo of Pedro to anyone who bought yarn spun from his fleece from the 2005 shearing.
